Thanks for the Substack suggestions. I'll check them out. I always love to discover new treasures here on Substack (yours among them). The woman who inspired me most was my grandmother. She died decades ago, but I still think of her often. She was the kindest and most gentle person I knew. In her last weeks on this earth she shared her life story with me. Her childhood was marked by neglect, abuse, hunger, fear and a lot more. Despite of all of that, she was full of love and kindness. Not only did she bring up three of her own children (one of them my mum) but she also helped raising foster children. Later, she helped raising two of her granddaughters (one of them me).
Oh Jo, I'm so very touched by your mention - thank you so very, very much. Checking out everyone else you've linked to right now! Sending love to you today and indeed *every* day. ❤️
Thank you for mentioning me in such a wonderful group of writers, Jo 🙏🏾 There are so many incredible women both past and present that to try and name them all in one place would be an impossible task! Maya Angelou is a woman I find incredibly inspiring and her words always seem to pop up when I need them. My Mum, also no longer here physically but I still feel her presence. And the women in my life who are amazing, who I feel lucky to know and who inspire me all the time.
Thank you for adding me to the list. I am incredibly honored! Know that you, too, inspire me to face life's challenges with humor and perseverance. Even if all we can do is limp along some days, here we are limping and to me that spells success.

Thanks so much for the shout out, and I absolutely love that you find my daily posts calming! My mother is absolutely my first and foremost inspiration (even post and repost this piece on her) https://marylouisalocke.substack.com/p/my-yearly-celebration-of-my-mother
Thank you for the nod Jo - your courage, determination and fortitude has always inspired me.
My lovely mum who has taught me so much about life, and my daughter who surprises me everyday and shines with her passion and independence.
And one I have to mention - Ruth Bader-Ginsberg, just wow! X
