What a fun post you've given here. I really needed to cheer up. My self respect has faded horribly and I'm actually considering being put in a home. I blame myself for getting so worked up over the Trump debacle. Since his plan to remove the rights of all members of the LGBTQ COMMUNITIES directly effects my friends and me I really don't want to live anymore. I'm guilty of feeling hope that he won't hurt the rest of the world yet I know he will.
As for how I dress now, I don't care how I look but for when I sit outside by the sidewalk and greet passers-by. All my life I've favored Levi Jeans as the best fitting for me. When working I was known to dress finer than the Partners and Associates I worked for. Getting home it was back into my Levis.
Thanks again for bringing me a bit of cheer today.
Levis are a man's (and woman's) best jeans. I bet you look great. And Richard, don't give up. The best way to give the finger (sorry) to someone like the Orange Peril is to just keep trucking, don't give up hope and keep doing your own quiet thing.
I am glad I gave you a bit of cheer. I am so sorry things are looking so bleak for you Richard and understand why. I hope you keep writing it is important to get your story out there.
Its amazing how Levis still keep going, unfortunately it as been a long time since I could get into them 😁😘
Living on a narrow boat, I'm nearly always in so called scruffy (and often muddy) clothes and boots. I rarely wear make up and hate anything restricting like belts and heels. I'm happiest in leggings, sweatshirt and trainers or walking boots, walking trousers and waterproof jacket. As we're in Tenerife at the minute, I'm mooching around in shorts, vest and flip flops. I'm not at all bothered about my baggy skin (all those years of exercise haven't stopped my skin sliding south!) and don't care what people think of a 67 year old woman still wearing a bikini 🤣😘
I always feel unprepared to meet the day if I'm not at least dressed and hair tidied.
But I don't think the world's ready for the sun-damaged, palest eyebrowed, no colour lips and wrinkles. I'm not either. The difference between me making an effort and not is that I feel ready to do anything I need to do.
I saw the difference it made to women with cancer when I worked for Look Good Feel Better and my mum was always the same. Learned behaviour. Besides, it only takes 5-10 minutes to make the effort. Not everybody's cup of tea, but we're all different and that's perfectly fine.
Most comfy clothes when young? Swimwear. Now at 73? Leggings and sports top, or jeans.
Dressing up to go out? I don't go out much these days - except to the theatre and actually LOVE getting glammed up for that, even if others are wearing jeans. Freedom of expression is everything.
I think it is important to dress the way you feel most comfortable. If I am going somewhere new or a bit nerve inducing I will dress up. There is a comfort in feeling you look good but is ok to be scruffy when I am walking the dogs and at home 😘
I always dressed casual for work being an occupational therapist. Now Im Retired I still dress casual but get dressed every day in pants and a top shoes and earrings. I do my hair but gave up on makeup during Covid. I feel better when I’m dressed but it’s totally personal

I remember sitting in a bath of water, wearing my shrink-to-fit Levis. Now I'd need stretch-to-fit! :o
Not sure any Levi’s would stretch far enough for my back side 🤣🤣
You and me both. Big dresses and jogging bottoms are my faves :-) (not, usually, together) ;-)

I suspect you look brilliant in a bikini Karen. I am glad you are enjoying Tenerife sun, sea and calm I hope 😘
I'm with you! Isn't it liberating?!

I am not I could stay in my pyjamas all day either 😁. I some ways I miss makeup. 😘
Pajamas are great. I’m just happy to get dressed. I usually run out for something during the day. But I’m a firm believer in whatever makes us happy
