I absolutely love my air fryer! It has revolutionised the speed at which I cook especially after a long day at work. Another gadget I cannot live without would be my juicer - which is currently broken. But as someone who likes to be mindful of what I eat and drink from time to time my juice has been a great addition to my kitchen tools. I’ve only used it so much that it’s now broken!!! A new one is pending!

Definitely sounds like a new juicer is needed. The speed of the air fryer makes last-minute decisions much easier. I am not great at planning.

I am tempted, from time to time, to invest in a Hot Pot. The most recent temptation came because it can be used as a rice cooker. We don't eat a ton of rice, and I have a small rice cooker big enough for 2-4 servings, but that means I can't include rice in a meal for the whole family. I wouldn't use the pressure cooker part as I have never used one, but the fry cooker part, I think would get heavy usage from my son. For a while, I wanted a bread maker. I LOVE fresh bread (my first job was working in a bakery), but very mixed reviews put me off. I did finally ask for a knife sharpener for Christmas and wow, what a difference it made! I, too, tried an electric car when my car was in the shop. Driving it was fine, but having to charge it before returning it was a huge pain. I had to sit in a parking lot for 2 hours while it charged.

I have a lot of manual gadgets because I have trouble with my hands. I have my lemon/lime squeezer, my veggie slicer and my dicer. They were well worth the investment. I use them often. The bear claw meat shredder I probably could have done without, but it does work better than two forks.

One gadget that I invested in, literally put in an investment through crowd sourcing (I think), is called Vacuvita. It comes with a good size box that vacuum seals. I use it for bread. It works really well. It also comes with various size food containers that can be vacuum sealed for storage in the cupboard or fridge, plus some vacuum seal bags. Having kids involved in doing dishes and putting them away means that many parts have gone missing, but that is one investment I never regretted. Apparently, it never took off and I can only find the home base (main large box) on sites like eBay. Glad I got mine when I did!

Hi Sheryl, I like the sound of the Vacuvita. I had a bread maker when my kids were younger. I used to rake my son and his mate to school and his mate would come early for fresh bread. The best thing was you could time it to be ready in the morning. Is your knife sharpener electric? X

Yes, my knife sharpener is electric. It is a two slot process. One for a rough grind and the other is a fine grind. Nice grooves so I can't mess up. I love it!

Something definitely on my list! X

As I sit here, enjoying your post, I have banana bread baking in my airfryer and a butternut squash stew cooking in the slow cooker. I was sceptical about the airfyer but my son bought it for me so I'm trying it out. I used to swear by my pressure cooker, especially when I had a family to cook for but now it's just me, I'm using the microwave oven and the two aforementioned cooking methods mostly. I hardly use my conventional cooker now.

Let me know how the banana bread works. I haven't been able to find a tin/bread baking case. Plus my cakes are not good at the best of times 😁😁

I wanted to start making "healthy" cakes without sugar so used chopped dates and made other changes to the recipe. It turned out fine but I think I need to work on it to make it really tasty. I'm impressed with baking in the airfryer though, it's quicker (and cheaper) than using the big oven.

My advice in the beauty column, and I've said it before, don't wrinkle your forehead when brushing your teeth. Hah!!

Like you, I'm a sucker for kitchen gadgets. The worse one I bought recently was a microwave egg poacher. I can't remember the name of the dishes that are good for putting meal ingredients into before getting started (ramicans?) but I put a bit of butter in one of those, drop the egg in, cover it tightly with plastic wrap or a saucer with a weight on it, and zap for one minute. Run a knife around the edges, and out comes a perfect muffin ready poached egg.

I have a combo pressure cooker/slow cooker that is perfectly wonderful. For bacon I use a long, flat electric griddle.

Most of my gadgets are in storage but it's packed so full I had to buy replacements for the kitchen of my special little apartment.

One thing I have for makiing large roasts is one of those big, oblong slow cookers. Perfect for any delicious big meal, including chicken. I use that quite frequently.

I, too, would love to have an EV. It sure is a treat not to have quite so many cars with extremely loud mufflers. I don't know about guys in Jolly Old, but here in Trump's amuricka, guys love to show off by practically flooring it when they take off. Very annoying to an old blister like I.

Well, speaking of food, I'd best get something going on in the kitchen. Did I already tell you about one of my favorite dishes made on top of the range? You prepare the sauce and pour it over chicken and thighs in a big pot. The instructions are to turn the thighs over every five minutes for thirty-five minutes. I've been telling people that I don't know what turning my thighs over to every five minutes did for the chicken but it sure made a mess of my bed.

Have a wonderful next day.

I know what you mean about noisy cars. We all cheered recently when the noisiest car in the village was written off in an accident (no one was hurt). But be careful what you wish for he got a noisier one. The only down side of EV is that you can't hear them.
