Love this...some very good points, but your gift of subtle humor/sarcasm cracks me up! I agree..it’s not being older, it’s the crazy world and people in it! Great essay Jo... love your writing! 😊

That bear video voiceover is priceless! Thanks for the laughs 😃 I had no idea that “beam me up Scotty” was never said. Apparently on Lassie, Timmy never fell in the well. Yeah.

Thanks for the bear and balloon video! While I couldn't parse the accent, the visual was so funny, first belly laugh of the day for me. And I simply don't know how to process that Beam me up Scotty was never actually uttered in the series!! But you certainly touched on most of my key, beam me up moments in my day.

I had to completely cut myself off from anything related to politics about a year ago. Cold turkey. No news, no TV, no discussions with others. Nada. The threats of violence, stubborn defiance, and extreme polarization that's emerged over the past 10 years or so is unlike anything I've ever seen in my lifetime and is leading us barreling towards a very tragic fate if it continues like this. I mean, I know these people never liked each other, but now we're dealing with actual physical threats. Over what?? I'm convinced that some of these politicians will burn the whole place down, themselves included, just to prove a point. Get me off of this crazy train!

And I know you touched on angry drivers, and how you can be one (me too Jo!), but I think that anger is warranted when you realize that driving skill has seemingly tanked over the past few years. I don't know if it's just this instant gratification age that we find ourselves in, but I've noticed that drivers have absolutely no chill these days. Cruising is a thing of the past, now I feel like I have to don a pair of shoulder pads and assless leather pants every time I step behind the wheel because my morning commute has become like another mad suicide run towards Thunderdome.

But I digress. I'm clearly having another "get off my lawn" moment here. Jo, your writing is always a pleasure to read and incredibly relatable. I'm glad I'm not alone in feeling like I need to be beamed up and far far away from this very strange planet we're living on.

Thanks Dan, This really made chuckle particularly shoulder pads and assless leather pants.

On a more serious note I know exactly what you mean about the news. I still watch/read but I do ration the amount these days. My professional life was spent in social policy particularly supported housing, welfare rights and child poverty. I feel i gave to have some hope that there are some politicians who have some integrity, in all parties. But I have it is getting increasingly hard.

Thank you for your very kind words about my rambling ponderings xx
