I loved the recording of Mildred!!! I am by nature not a bounder about anything, but neither do I mind getting up early. More of a slow roll out of bed and now a bit of a groan as I try to stand upright without creaking too much.
I feel about like Mildred does in the morning. One time I was traveling with a friend who is a morning person. She cheerily greeted me one morning and I, literally, growled at her. I never wake up ready to go. If I have to be somewhere I can manage to get my motor running, but if not I stumble around half awake for a while, have my tea, and mindlessly scroll Facebook until I can feel ignition in my brain. LOL!!
I love the dialogue with your inner critic Jo, but what I love even more is that self-compassion you’re so deservedly giving yourself 💕 we can be so hard on ourselves most of the time.
I’m very mixed in the mornings - I used to be a morning person, up and at it early, but things have changed since I’ve had children - sleep is my survival mode, so I don’t often look forward to the mornings these days. Having said that I know I feel so much better if I can get going straight away instead of lounging around ...
It very much depends on the day. This morning I emerged to my husband cutting chunks out of a wall in the kitchen - I take a bit of time to feel my way into the day so didn't really appreciate the noisy start! The fact your inner critic has a name really tickled me, lol.
I hope it's the right wall 😄 I wish I could take credit for naming your inner critic, but it was Julia Cameron’s in her Writers Toolkit. But I had already seen him as a waspish theatre critic, hence the name I gave him 😄
It's the right wall, thankfully. After a peaceful reprieve, he's now back making an excruciating amount of noise and mess. He seems determined to prove that he can do the work himself rather than getting in a joiner as I suggested - the latter option is far less stressful for me 😂
For some reason, Algernon makes me think of a pig, lol
Oh it so depends on the day and my health. One thing I miss so much is having the energy to bound out of bed in the mornings before my household awakes. I think there was a period where that happened but I could be imagining it!! Mornings are a gentle time - whilst cajoling teenagers I still need to make sure I’m gentle with myself 💕
Cajoling teenagers can be very difficult. When they were teenagers you could play Black Sabbath at full volume in their ears and they would get up. The final solution was the wet flannel at a 100 paces slam the bedroom door and run 🤣🤣
Am so gonna try that...they really are extraordinary creatures. I find their sleep physiology fascinating 🤣🤣. Wet flannel sounds perfect, I’m sure they’ll appreciate it 😆

Sounds like a reasonable wake up routine 😄

That is a another benefit of growing old. You can have your cup of tea in bed whenever you want 😁😁

I will have to change his nose on my drawing of him 😁

Mildred is a one off 😂The creaking is not a benefit of growing old 😁
I’m a morning person, seize the day I say - annoys my husband no end as he is very much not!!
I’m definitely a morning person. More productive and more focused.
