Your seasonal change, with all the leaves shrivelling and dropping off sounds like Australia for the last few years. It’s so dry where I live (Tasmania) whereas further north on the eastern seaboard, it’s flooding rains.

I do like your routine and am envious. With a new pup, our lie-ins are now a thing of the past and we’re up and dressed, bed made, laundry chuntering away in the machine and breakfast half eaten by 8 AM!!! Maybe we’ll get it all back one day…

And in passing, I think the only way to bottle the best feelings for the glum days is to put them in a journal and read it back when there is a need. Cheers and take care.

Hey Jo, what a peaceful start to the morning. I love the start of a new day in bed cuddled up with the dogs, a good cup of tea, my laptop or journal, and of course Vegemite toast. The dogs and the toast vary depending on where we are housesitting. We are currently in northern Italy, where until the weekend we were in a heatwave with continuos temps over 35 degrees celsius. A storm on the weekend broke the trend and it is now sitting more comfortably around 30 degrees. We are back in the UK early September and I am looking forward to slightly cooler weather and perhaps the autumn colours shining through. Thanks for sharing your day. All the best.

Such a soothing, contemplative post, Jo. Lovely. I'm having a quiet morning here, having decided to spend the day reassessing (in a good way) my writing and creative life. Happy sigh. And it's grey and damp outside, which actually helps! x

Great catch up Jo. We are in Sydney Australia and the weather has turned cold and wet. Definitely winter but spring sights are around us. We have wattle trees in bloom, bulbs shooting up and blossoms of the trees…we tend to sleep late & enjoy a quiet morning for two. We are 76 & 75 & liking the way in which we get to plan and decide our days. I’m still affected by some IBS after a triggering event or two so I am home for now but enjoying Substack writing and reading, and my art fun. Hope your hand and arm continue to do well.

What a lovely glimpse into your morning routine. My routine always starts with tea, and looking through email, and today your post was the only one I got to before I now head upstairs to do my zoom yoga pranayama (breathing) 30 minutes. Then off to see daughter and grandsons off, since their visit ends this morning. Hope your art morning went well.

I love autumn too and I noticed yesterday how the hawthorn berries are all turning red. They look so beautiful. I have to have tea in the morning, but I've never had a dog, so no responsibility to get up! I love to be cosy and it's quite chilly today, so my sheepskin slippers have come out after months of flip flops. It's such a gift to take our time in the mornings now, after decades of getting up for work. Hope you're mending well Jo and have a good week xx
